Sharing the Love

Posted: March 8, 2011 in Uncategorized

The sun was so bright and warm last Sunday. A reminder that spring really is on the way. A reminder that it is almost time to plant spring flowers and vegetable gardens.

So, as Livvy and I were perusing the aisles at Family Dollar on Sunday, she begged and pleaded for me to buy seed packets as we walked down the aisle displaying gardening items. Laughing at her enthusiasm, I agreed that we should plant an early garden.

We placed a large planter on the deck and filled it with organically fortified dirt. Livvy dug holes in the dirt with her fingers and very carefully placed the tiny lettuce and beet seeds in the dirt. Gingerly, she covered the seeds and patted down the dirt. Feeling the dirt between my fingers and smelling the freshness of it was intoxicating. I could tell Livvy felt the same.

Every day, Livvy looks at the dirt and wonders when the plants will grow.

Sharing the love of gardening with my daughter. How exciting.

Love it! It reminds me of the times I spent with my kids in the garden! You’ll never regret doing it. It maybe hard at times but the memories are wonderful! Thanks for sharing! You’re great with Livvy! :o)

It’s so good to slow things down with our children and growing stuff is the perfect way to do it. It’s often our children who remind us of the value of it.
